Family Portraits with The Glatts

When I arrived in Vancouver in 2007, a fresh-faced lad of 32, I couldn’t have imagined what lay in store for me. My dreams at that time revolved around becoming a world renowned photographer, my dreams of settling down and becoming a father temporarily on hold. I had always hoped, like most people, to meet someone great. Years of singledom will naturally cause you to doubt this is going to happen, but I always told myself “One year can change everything”.

That said, I never in a million years would’ve guessed I’d bump into my soulmate and wife-to-be while looking at some crooked houses near Main Street. We were married in less than a year, and barely three years after I touched down in YVR our second child was born and our family was complete.

Anyway, this is all a roundabout way of saying that the subject of new families is one that is close to my heart, and photographing new families and creating portraits that will own day become part of the family heritage is something I’m honoured to get the opportunity to do.

I didn’t get around to posting photos from the Glatt’s portrait session last year, probably because we left for Ireland soon after they were created, but they are special photos so I thought it would be a shame not to share them – despite the fact that little Aziza has grown and changed considerably in the meantime!

As ever I tried to create portraits that felt natural and real, not always the easiest thing to do in low indoor light, but I think I did a passable job in this case.
