Nothing says ‘springtime in Vancouver’ better than a Granville Island engagement session.
Granville Island is one of those quintessential Vancouver locations, and it has loads of cool little nooks and crannies. No matter how many times you photograph there, you can always make original images.
The Island was an industrial and manufacturing area once, and there are still remnants of that history in the aging buildings and faded textures, and these are exactly the kind of backgrounds I like to work with.
Nick and Catriona are getting married at the Cecil Green Park House later in the summer and this was our ice-breaker in terms of working as photographer and subjects. When I photograph an engagement session I want it to feel as candid and spontaneous as possible. I think of my style as ‘semi-directed’ because I do like to offer some pointers so that we get great compositions, but when it comes to expressions and emotions, it’s all up to the couple. Thankfully Nick and Catriona love each other’s company and have a crackling chemistry. Pretty good ingredients for a marriage I would say.
Hope you enjoy this Granville Island engagement session – I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
